The DLS Academic Success Center

The DLS Academic Success Center

The DLS Academic Success Center (ASC) provides learning support services for students at DLS. Services offered include small group instruction, a written accommodation plan based on diagnostic testing, tutoring or homework assistance, organization support, study skills practice and more.

Formerly the Talent Zone, the all new DLS Academic Success Center (ASC) is updated to provide accommodations and support to students with learning differences, including small group instruction, classroom accommodations, tutoring, and therapy opportunities.

Mrs. Adrienne Wright, program director, is excited to be joining the team at Dallas Lutheran School and brings a wealth of experience in serving and advocating for students with learning differences. Students in the Academic Success Center program will work with Mrs. Wright 3-5 times weekly.

Some of the areas Mrs. Wright will include are:

  • Diagnostic testing
  • Dyslexia
  • Therapy
  • Dyscalculia
  • Executive Functioning
  • Accommodations
  • Organization
  • ADHD
  • Tutoring
  • Learning Differences
  • Spectrum

Students in the DLS ASC program have a class time scheduled in the ASC classroom with the teacher providing support.

Academic Skills Screening (optional):

To qualify for the Academic Success Center program, each family must provide a copy of updated (within 3 years) educational diagnostic testing or a physician's diagnosis for their student.

In addition, the DLS Academic Success Center offers optional screening for academic strengths and weaknesses, and a learning styles inventory. Areas accessed include:

  • Reading Comprehension

  • Mathematics
  • Problem Solving

Tutoring:

Additional support through a tutoring program may be recommended for students who need extra help. Tutors assist with homework, organization, and projects both during school hours in place of a study hall or after school hours.
